Preparing palletised goods for collection
A well-prepared pallet makes handling easier and helps reduce the risk of damage. Check packaging, labels and loading arrangements before the vehicle arrives.
Check the pallet and load arrangement
Use a pallet suited to the weight and shape of the cargo, without visible damage that could affect handling. Arrange the goods securely and avoid overhang beyond the edges. Add protection for vulnerable parts. The method of securing the load should suit the product and expected handling.
Keep labels clear and accessible
Label the shipment so it can be matched to the recipient and accompanying information. Number multiple pallets and state the total count. Remove obsolete labels that could cause confusion during collection. Ensure special handling instructions match the information supplied in the enquiry.
Prepare collection details
Confirm the contact person, address and loading time. Check who provides loading equipment and whether the vehicle can access the collection point. Photograph the prepared cargo for your records. If pallet count, dimensions or weight change, report this before the vehicle arrives so the plan can be adjusted.
